Diane Mould Receives Award from the American Society for Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics

04/16/2014

Diane Mould, PhD, adjunct faculty member and alumna of The Ohio State University College of Pharmacy, was presented with the Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics: Pharmacometrics and Systems Pharmacology Award at the 2014 annual meeting of the American Society for Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics in Atlanta, Georgia.

The award was presented in recognition of Mould’s contributions to the journal, Clinical Pharmacology & Therapeutics (CPT): Pharmacometrics and Systems Pharmacology (impact factor 6.846, Nature Publishing Group). Mould and co-author, Richard Upton, PhD, professor of pharmacometrics at the University of South Australia and also an adjunct faculty member of the OSU College of Pharmacy, published a three-part series of tutorials on the foundations, tools and methodologies applied in the growing field of pharmacometrics and systems pharmacology. These fields employ quantitative approaches, computational modeling, and simulation to the study of disease and therapeutic intervention.

These approaches are increasingly recognized by academic and industry scientists, along with the United States Food and Drug Administration and other regulatory agencies as means to increase efficiency in the drug development process and to improve safety and efficacy in personalized medicine strategies. The tutorial series published in CPT provides a foundation for improved consistency and quality in the application of pharmacometrics and systems pharmacology principles among drug development scientists.

Mould is president of Projections Research, Inc, a company that specializes in helping researchers make better informed decisions in drug development. She received the College of Pharmacy Distinguished Alumni Award in 2010. Upton and Mould, along with Bill Frame, MS, dedicate their time as instructors in a graduate course on Pharmacometrics (PHR 8025) offered at the OSU College of Pharmacy.
