Schmoll Takes Office as President of the Ohio Pharmacists Association
Robert Schmoll, R.Ph., of Thurman, Ohio, was installed as President of the Ohio Pharmacists Association (OPA) at its 136th Annual Conference held April 4-6 in Columbus. He also was awarded the 2014 Pharmacy Leadership Award of the National Community Pharmacists Association.
Schmoll is a 1966 graduate of Middleport High School, and a 1972 graduate of The Ohio State University College of Pharmacy. He began his internship in 1967 at Swisher & Lohse Pharmacy in Pomeroy, Ohio, and has since practiced in community, hospital, and long-term care settings before retiring in January 2012. Schmoll has been a member of OPA for more than 10 years, and serves on various committees.
Schmoll is a veteran who served in the National Guard for 12 years, eventually earning the rank of captain.
“We are pleased to have Bob Schmoll leading our Association as president. Through his volunteerism and active participation in the Association over the years, he has proven to be an asset. His passion for the profession of pharmacy is seemingly limitless. We look forward to working with him as president,” said Ernest Boyd, OPA Executive Director.
OPA, established in 1879, represents more than 4,000 pharmacists, pharmacy educators, and pharmacy students throughout the state. It is OPA’s mission to unite the profession of pharmacy and encourage interprofessional relations, while promoting public health through education, discussion, and legislation.
